On the standards for blood bank services the AABB (21st edition, 2002) requires that blood samples processed for type, Rh and antibody screen must be labelled as follows: The sample label must contain two independent patient identifiers (first name & last name) and (DOB or MRN/SSN) plus the collection date. Samples that do not meet these requirements will not be processed.
